Project Facts:

  • The project area was close to the king's palace gate.
  • The Project is close to the coast of the Red Sea and water table level encounter at 1-meter depth. (Some shaft's water pressure was around 1.5 bar)
  • Due to water pressure the tunneling machine and string of pipes were moving backward.
  • The project startup concurrent with Corona pandemic and subsequently lockdown and curfew.

Critical Success Factors:

  • A special ancillary (Pipe Brake) was supplied to stop backward movement, enhance processes, boost job productivity, and improve compatibility with working
  • Provided a suitable team of well-experienced staff.
  • STCC team obtained special permits to work 24hours/7days
